Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk at Blair House in Washington yesterday. Musk, accompanied by three children and partner Shibon Jiris, gave Prime Minister Modi a much-popular gift.
The billionaire was presented to Prime Minister Modi, who oversaw the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and looks like a heat shield tile that flew to SpaceX’s Starship Test Flight 5 last October. The relics featured the words “Spaceship Flight Test 5. October 13th, 2024.”
SpaceX’s spacecraft hexagonal ceramic heat shield tiles are designed to protect the spacecraft from extreme heat encountered in the atmosphere.
Last October, SpaceX launched a spacecraft vehicle from South Texas. This mission is particularly noteworthy for successfully capturing ultra-heavy boosters at launch sites, and has achieved important achievements in aerospace technology.
Prime Minister Modi has given talented Musk children three classic Indian books – “Crescent Moon” by Nobel Prize winner Rabindranath Tagore, Great RK Narayan Collection and Panchatantra of Pandit Vishnusharma.

The two discussed several important topics related to spatial, mobility, technology and innovation. The two met previously in 2015 when PM visited the Tesla facility in San Jose and was given a personal tour by the Tesla CEO.
