The Mumbai Super League 2024-25 peaked on the dramatic final day, with the Mumbai Football Genius (MSP) winning after an attractive exhibit of offensive football. The final day’s action was packed with twists, turns and great goals, leaving fans at the edge of their seats until they played their final whis.
Upon entering the final day, the table was delicately prepared. Waves FC led by 4 points in two games, with Mumbai Ultras FC and MSP tied each with three points, but the brothers waned at the bottom with just one point. The stage was set for a thrilling showdown.
In the first match of the day, FC won Mumbai Ultras FC. Ultra attacked first, taking advantage of the early opportunity of eight minutes, and a dangerous cross from the right forced his goal from the waves Chris Kori. Spurred by the supporters of the voice, the waves fought bravely for the equalizer, creating some close chances. However, their efforts seemed to be wasted until the moment of the game’s death. In the extra eight minutes, Shubham Nalvelkar unleashed a breathtaking free kick, leaving the ultra walls and goalkeeper ineffective as the ball was surrounded by the net. The dramatic equalizer won the waves, but securing a championship for them wasn’t enough.
The draw moved to the left of the wave with 5 points and Ultra moved to 4. This meant that MSP had a chance to win the league in the final match against his brother WA.
The second game of the day was the goal fest. The brothers drew First Blood. Prasam Bhatkal unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box after a free kick kindly fell to him. Early leads gave the brothers hope, but MSP responded with resilience. Deep Moore Jani leveled the score with a tap-in around the 38th minute, setting up a thrilling second half stage.
The MSP fired after the break. Nihal Korako’s double followed a strike from Joseph Damero, putting MSP in a 4-1 lead within just six minutes. Sahil Tambotkar pulled back the brothers’ goal, but Colaco sealed the victory with a sublime chip finish at goalkeeper around the 63rd minute, completing the hat-trick. The late Tanishkugadge goal for the brothers is an unbearable brother’s goal, and the final scoreline reads 5-3 in favor of the MSP and wins the Mumbai Super League 2024-25 champion did.
