Microsoft is reportedly working on an update to its Phone Link app to make transferring files between Windows PCs and iPhones easier.
Good news for users of both Apple iPhones and Windows PCs. Microsoft is working on a new feature that will allow you to share files between two devices.
The company is reportedly working on an update to its Phone Link app to make it easier to transfer files between Windows PCs and iPhones.
According to a blog post shared by Microsoft, this feature is now available to participants in the Windows Insiders program.
The app already has features like phone notifications on your PC and answering calls directly on your PC. New file sharing features for iPhone users greatly enhance the functionality of the app.
File sharing between Windows and iPhone
There are several things users should keep in mind before using the new features. First of all, this is still in the testing phase and is only available to Windows Insiders users. Additionally, the iPhone in question must be running iOS 16 or a later version of the operating system.
Users who fall into all of these categories should install the Link to Windows app on their iPhone. App version must be version 1.24112.73 or later. Your PC must also have the Phone Link app updated to version 1.24112.89.0 or later.
Once all that is done, (link to Windows) will appear as an option to share files on iPhone, allowing users to send photos, documents, and other files directly to their PC.
This feature is expected to be rolled out to general users in the coming months after the product testing and debugging phase is complete.
It will be interesting to see how Microsoft gets around the Apple ecosystem limitations that have caused problems for the company’s Phone Link app in the past.
