Meta has launched the newest addition to its virtual reality (VR) headset lineup, the Quest 3S, at a competitive price of $299. This model costs $200 less than its predecessor and is a fraction of the price of Apple’s Vision Pro ($3,500). Even the most expensive Meta Quest 3S model costs just 15% of Apple’s flagship headset. None of the new Quest models will arrive in India.
Two versions of the Quest 3S are available for pre-order and will be available on October 15th. The 128GB model is $299.99 and the 256GB model is $399.99. They are aimed at users new to VR and mixed reality and offer a low-cost upgrade option from previous models such as the Quest 2. These devices come loaded with various features such as gaming, multitasking, and immersive viewing experiences.
The price of the flagship 512GB Meta Quest 3 has dropped from $649.99 to $499.99. With high-end features like 4K+ Infinite Display and advanced pancake lenses, it’s ideal for VR enthusiasts.
To attract more buyers, Meta is offering a new Batman: Arkham Shadows game and a copy of Meta Quest+, the game’s subscription service, with every purchase of Quest 3 and Quest 3S through April 2025. Bundled for the month. The game will be released in October. 22 is exclusive to Quest 3 and 3S and features the popular Batman character and a story that sees players battle Gotham City’s villains.
The Quest 3S shares the same powerful Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 platform as the Quest 3, but is a more budget-friendly product. It features a Fresnel lens for better visuals, full-color mixed reality for an immersive experience, dynamic spatial audio, and improved pass-through technology. Meta also rebuilt the Meta Horizon OS to focus on spatial computing and added features such as travel mode for use on airplanes and offline entertainment downloads.
Meta has discontinued the older Quest 2 and Pro models and is focusing on the new Quest 3 and Quest 3S. Accessories like the Touch Pro controller and Elite Strap will continue to be compatible with the new model. With these updates, Meta continues its efforts to make VR and mixed reality available to a wider audience while remaining competitive in a rapidly evolving market.
