Details of Christopher Nolan’s movie version of Homer’s “Odyssey” have been revealed.
Matt Damon is scheduled to play the lead role in Odysseus, announced Monday.

Universal, which released Oppenheimer, is again partnering with Nolan at Odyssey in 2020 after a filmmaker’s release break from longtime studio Home Warner Bros.
Homer’s epic tells of Odysseus’ dangerous decade of journey back to Ithaca after the Trojan War. When Odysseus returns, he is forced to fight over interruptions from God and other mythical creatures. Meanwhile, his wife and son must fight with suitors who are trying to replace him.
Nolan’s The Odyssey is scheduled to be a hit in theaters on July 17, 2026. Production is expected to begin later this month.
The film marks the third collaboration between Damon and Nolan, following Oppenheimer and Interstellar.
Nolan won his first Oscar for Oppenheimer, bringing home the best photo and best director prize at the 2024 Academy Awards.
