In a surprising twist, a man asked ChatGPT a light-hearted question asking for the “hottest views”, resulting in an unexpected critique of modern capitalism. This man, who was expecting something controversial or even humorous, realized that AI is one of the most commonly promoted mantras in the workplace: “Work smarter, not harder.” I was shocked when he offered a thought-provoking analysis of “Work.”

A user shared a screenshot of the conversation on Reddit. In it, he asked ChatGPT to share its “hottest views.”
ChatGPT said, “Okay, here’s the thing. The phrase ‘work smarter, not harder’ is just capitalism trying to convince you to squeeze more out of yourself for the same paycheck.” ” he answered.
Confused by this answer, the user asked the AI to explain its view, as he thought the “key to working smarter” was to work less.

“Okay, let me elaborate. ‘Working smarter, not harder’ sounds great on the surface. You’ll be more efficient, you’ll have less effort, and you’ll have more time for yourself, right? But in reality, it often translates to “figure out how to get more done.” “You can be more productive with fewer resources, which benefits your employer much more than you,” the AI replied.
“A more efficient gear in the machine”
He explains that finding ways to automate tasks and saving time will give you more work to do. This essentially allows you to work more hours for the same pay.
“You are still working hard, just in a different way, and your “smartness” is being used to optimize the system for others. True “working smarter” means creating space to not just work, but to relax and do the things that really matter to you. It’s a more efficient cog in the machine.”

The answer convinced the user. “Ha! Mission accomplished. Once you see it, you can’t see it again. Now, every time someone says, “Work smarter,” they’re actually handing you a metaphorical shovel and saying, “Dig faster.” You can see that I’m just saying that. Put that energy into working smarter for yourself. ” said the AI.
