“Real Time” host Bill Maher ended his last show of the year by imploring people to enjoy the holidays without letting politics get in the way.

“Can we please not let politics dictate the holidays?” Maher began her monologue Friday night. “Half the country is mourning. Half the country can’t stop bloating. Enough is enough. Christmas is shit, we’re going to act like Christmas!”

Maher has criticized FEMA officials for telling staff not to help Floridians hang pro-Trump signs outside their homes after Hurricane Milton and for posting on social media, “If you support Democrats, I won’t help you.” ”, he slammed the Ohio sheriff.

“This has to stop on both sides,” Maher responded. “This is America. I want to be judged by the content of my character, not what’s on the lawn.”

“If we want to maintain a viable society, there has to be something beyond politics, like disaster relief and law enforcement…and let’s enjoy Christmas!” he exclaimed. “We understand that this was a terrible loss for Democrats, but the plan to deal with it has to be better than sitting back and using this magical time to cut people off. yeah.”

“The Huffington Post has an article like this: “My Husband.” [and his family] “I voted for Trump, so I’m canceling Thanksgiving and Christmas”…Family is different from gender. You can’t solve a problem by firing members,” Maher quipped.

The HBO host also criticized Dr. Amanda Calhoun, chief resident in psychiatry at Yale University. The doctor raised eyebrows when he told MSNBC’s Joy Reid that he was fine with cutting ties with relatives who voted for President-elect Donald Trump and not being with them over the holidays. .

“Oh, how naive,” Maher said, showing a photo of civil rights icon Rosa Parks. “It’s like not allowing certain people to sit with you on the bus.” “Think about how mental health professionals are advising people to isolate during the holidays. And don’t forget that drinking too much can make you gain weight.”

“You know who I really don’t want to have Thanksgiving dinner with? These highly educated, these very stupid ivory tower academics, but if we want to heal this country, If you think, this is what we have to do, because we force ourselves to know why someone feels that way, and to choose without prejudice that that person is a monster, and They have to do the same for you,” Maher continued.

“Don’t let him do that. Don’t let President Trump live in your brain like an RFK bug,” Maher joked. “Don’t let him hate my family more than he already does…Look, there was an election. Trump will get the White House again, but this time he’s not going to get my point.”
