Orlando, Florida, January 22, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) $270 million The company has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Air Force to integrate a next-generation infrared defense sensor system on the F-22 Raptor.

The F-22 will soon be equipped with a newly developed distributed and implantable TacIRST sensor, known as the Infrared Defense System (IRDS), developed by Lockheed Martin to increase aircraft survivability and lethality.
