Liv Golf CEO Scott O’Neil drew a comparison between Liv Golf and Tennis, celebrating the Australian opening. O’Neill is the new LIV CEO after replacing Greg Norman, who has supported the Break Away League since its inception. After acquiring his new position, the sports executive attended the LIV Golf Adelaide Pre Tournament Pre Press Conference.
On the presser, O’Neill was asked what Liv Golf’s vision was as the first true global golf league. He responded (via ASAP Sports) saying:
“You don’t have to look past tennis. I’m always thinking about how I see other sports as models. I think the Australian opening here is a great example of tennis. This is the world It’s a class event, and for a while the tennis world started and stopped from here, golf seems to be very focused on the US.”
“But, if you look at the world of golf, Australia and the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore and all the incredible cities we are blessed with to play, last week we’ve been able to play with the game to the world. “I have it. Golf fans all over the world want to see great players at their biggest stage,” O’Neill added.
Liv Golf Adelaide will be held at the Grange Golf Club this weekend, with around 54 Liv Golfers teeing towards an Australian event. This is the third year of the Adelaide Tournament and attracts the most crowds each year. The event debuted in 2023 when Talor Gooch won.
Scott O’Neill has replaced Greg Norman with LIV Golf CEO position
In January, Scott O’Neill replaced Yasir Al-Rumayyan, CEO of LIV Golf and chairman of the Liv Golf Board. Authorities have decided to carry him (via ESPN).
While praising O’Neill, Al Lumayan never forgot about his former CEO. He added that Greg Norman has played an instrumental role in the growth of the Saudi-supported league as the league began.
Finally, Norman handed the baton to O’Neill. O’Neill was proud to be allowed to serve as CEO of the Break Away League. O’Neill further stated that Liv has achieved incredible heights over the years. His words are:
“It’s worth noting that Liv Golf achieved in just three years. The game is imbued with long-delayed energy and innovation with team models.”
O’Neill has gained a lot of experience in the role of manager. He previously was CEO of the Philadelphia 76ers in 2013 and CEO of the UK company Merlin Entertainment in 2022, with other management levels experience.
