Seoul, Dec 23 (IANS): Leading South Korean battery manufacturer LG Energy Solutions Co., Ltd. (LGES) on Monday agreed with Qualcomm Technologies to jointly accelerate the commercialization of a system-on-chip-based battery management system. (SoC-based BMS) diagnostic solution.
Under the agreement, LGES’ new advanced BMS software will be available on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon digital chassis. The BMS software will also be integrated with the Snapdragon Car-to-Cloud Connected Services Platform, Yonhap News reported.
According to LGES, the partnership builds on the collaboration between the two companies, which earlier this year announced plans to develop next-generation BMS diagnostic solutions for electric vehicles and formed a technology consortium to advance the research.
LGES officials said, “Through the technology sharing and verification process, we have proven the superiority of BMS technology due to the synergistic effect with Qualcomm Technologies. We are now officially starting development for commercialization.”
LGES holds over 8,000 patents related to BMS. The company boasts a safety diagnostic detection rate of over 90% and an industry-leading degradation diagnostic error rate of approximately 1%.
