HYDERABAD: Eyewear major Lenskart is investing Rs 1,500 crore to set up what is said to be the world’s largest eyewear manufacturing factory in Telangana.
Lenskart co-founder Amit Chaudhary said on Sunday that the facility will manufacture eyeglasses, lenses, sunglasses, accessories and other products not only for India but also for export to other markets in Southeast Asia and the Middle East. he said.
After signing a memorandum of understanding with the Telangana government at the Revanth Reddy-led government’s first anniversary event on Sunday, Chaudhary said the company was impressed with the speed and ease of use in Telangana and ultimately decided to focus on Telangana. He said he considered multiple states before deciding. doing business.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Telangana Industries and IT Minister Dudhira Sridhar Babu.
Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, VC and MD of TGIIC, said the facility will be built in a fab city where land has already been identified and will be handed over to the company this week.
He said the company may also set up a research and development facility in the state later.
The factory is expected to create around 2,100 jobs and is included in four memorandums of understanding worth around Rs 760 billion signed on Sunday, with the potential to create around 5,200 new jobs.
