Robotics giant GenRobotics on Friday launched India’s first robot-assisted pediatric gait trainer designed for physical rehabilitation of children with movement disorders such as cerebral palsy. Kerala Health Minister Veena George launched the G-Gaiter Pediatric at a ceremony held at the C-DAC auditorium at Technopark. She handed over the first machine to Sabith Umair, vice-chairman of Kannur-based charity Thanal Group, the release said.

G-Gaiter Pediatric integrates advanced virtual reality (VR) technology and real-time interactive gaming to provide an engaging and exciting treatment experience, the release states.

Pediatric Gait Trainer is a robotic solution to train children with gait disorders and improve the quality of rehabilitation care.

The robot is equipped with Genrobotics’ patented GPLOT exoskeleton technology, which enables children to develop natural walking patterns through precise and advanced robotic gait therapy.

It also works in intelligent therapy mode to help children relearn movement patterns, improve muscle coordination, strengthen functional mobility, and develop efficient gait patterns tailored to the patient’s needs. Helpful. The child-friendly design ensures comfort and accessibility for children and improves the overall user experience, the release states. Speaking at the event, the Minister of Health said the launch of G-Gaiter Pediatric signifies a significant advance in the physical rehabilitation of children with walking disabilities caused by diseases such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and cerebrospinal injuries.

“We are confident that G-Gaiter Pediatric will bring smiles to the faces of children with movement disorders and their parents, and make the world a more beautiful place,” said George.

The healthcare sector in Kerala has traditionally not been technology-driven. Rather, she added, it builds on strong and timely community interventions and public health efforts.

“After achieving important milestones in the medical field, we are now entering the second phase of integrating technology to improve the quality of life. Venture companies like G-Gaiter are moving in this direction. “It’s a step forward,” the minister said.

George also announced that G-Gator Pediatrics will be set up at Sree Avittam Thirunal (SAT) Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, one of the 10 centrally recognized maternal and child health centers. .

Vimal Govind MK, CEO of Genrobotics, said: “Our goal is to revolutionize physical therapy and rehabilitation through technology and ensure that people with mobility issues have access to advanced rehabilitation solutions, regardless of their age. ”.
