The findings of the KPCC Committee on the recent Lok Sabha election in Thrissur revealed that the leaders of the Congressional District intentionally caused a set-off. The Left Democratic Front (LDF) District Committee noted that these failures were the result of the unclean alliance of Congress leaders with the district’s BJP.
The committee accused leaders of explicitly naming TN Prathapan, Jose Vallur, Anil Akkara and MP Vincent. According to the findings, members of the Congress worked to divert votes for NDA candidate Suresh Gopi in several Congress segments. This left the assembly losing 64,000 votes, with UDF candidate K. Muraleedharan in third place, the LDF District Committee noted.
“Mr. Prasapan, who had adopted a dangerous stance, is currently serving as the KPCC’s Workers’ Chairman. As the investigation report has been released, demand has been raised to make him resign from this position. Otherwise he should be removed from his job,” the LDF argued.
The shift in voting to the BJP during elections was not an isolated incident. For years, district council leaders have been sympathetic to and praised the BJP-controlled institutions. In particular, Anil Akkara and Jose Valor acted like propagandists of the central government. Central agencies such as the ED are targeting CPI(M), but he added that these leaders were openly defending the BJP control bodies.
Politically, they employ a stance that benefits the RSS. During the Lok Sabha election, these leaders are believed to have supported the BJP. Despite the conclusions of the committee of inquiry appointed by the state leaders of their own party, those involved in the manipulation have not responded.
Attempts to hide Congress BJP Nexus in Thrissur and spread falsehood during elections are currently being exposed, including the supposed CPI(M)-BJP “undercurrent” claims. The investigation report shed light on the downfall of Congress in the district, pointing to its exposing fraud and betrayal within the party.
