Game On: Coperni, the French fashion brand that made splash at last season’s Disneyland Paris show, has once again chosen an unexpected venue for the next edition of Paris Fashion Week.

Another first, co-founders Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant are scheduled to hold a show on March 9th at the new Adidas Arena in Paris.

Known for their love and experimental approach to technology, they plan to host a 24-hour LAN, or a local area network, and plan to revive the glory day of participation in multiplayer PC games. I am.

“We love the connection between all digital and technology, but we also love the social aspect. We want to use the codes of the fashion industry to tell stories, but we aim to a larger audience. ” Vaillant said. “We decided to tackle a huge universe of games that has become more religious.”

Vaillant and Meyer enjoy video games such as “The Legend of Zelda,” “Valorant,” and “League of Legends,” but the game pays homage to the 90s when the game has not yet reached mainstream consciousness. Masu.

“It was a way for people to connect with each other in real life, and it was a moment of sharing. It was an honest moment, a moment of freedom,” Meyer said.

He described the fall collection as an extension of Coperni’s ’90s-inspired pre-fall line, with a technochic aesthetic and technically inspired by popular films from “Hacker” to “Tomb Raider.” It is combined with practical details such as pockets and harness belts.

Over the past few months, the duo has participated in an esports tournament in Paris. Thousands gathered to watch a team of players compete on stage and took part in the Stockholm Dreamhack, an old-fashioned run party.

“It was basically nostalgic people. There are people who come with their families and sleep there for two days and play non-stop,” Meyer said. “It’s a really moment when otakus come together.”

They plan an immersive experience with 200 players or streamers sitting with guests at the show at 8:30pm. Despite the mix of amateurs and experts and underestimating women in the game, they aim for gender equality.

Fashion is invading the segment in the hopes of connecting with younger customers.

Ten years ago, Louis Vuitton featured the “Final Fantasy” character lightning in an ad, but last year Balenciaga began collaborating with Tencent-owned racing video game Needs for Speed Mobile. Additionally, Brands hosts sponsor the E-Sports team.

Coperni is known for bringing an unexpected dimension to the show. They held a drive-in fashion show during the coronavirus pandemic and performed famous performances.

Thanks to a surprising runway appearance by Kylie Jenner, the show at Disneyland Paris quickly went viral last October, with media impact value generating $16.8 million, surpassing more than 91% of the Paris schedule Ta.

Vaillant said this season’s show comes with a series of “surprises.”

“I think the impact will be pretty crazy visually because it’s amazing and represents the whole younger generation in terms of digital amplification. It’s a huge community,” he says. Ta.
