The best performer of the session was Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (BIT:), increasing by 2.32% (0.15 points) to close at 6.81. Meanwhile, Bper Banca SpA (BIT:) rose 1.42% or 0.09 points to end at 6.13, while Hera (BIT:) rose 1.18% or 0.04 points to end at 3.43 in late trade.
The worst performer of the session was STMicroelectronics (BIT:), which fell 1.60% (0.39 points) to close at 24.01. interpump group (BIT:) fell 1.16% or 0.50 points to end at 42.66. Prismian SpA (BIT:) fell 0.74% (0.46 points) to 61.66.
Declining issues outnumbered advancing issues on the Milan Stock Exchange by 261 to 240, with 54 issues ending unchanged.
Siena Bank (BIT:) stock rises to a 52-week high. It rose by 2.32% or 0.15 to 6.81.
Crude oil for February delivery rose 1.29% ($0.91) to $71.51 per barrel. Elsewhere in commodity trading, Brent crude oil for March delivery rose 0.92%, or 0.68, to $74.47 per barrel, while February gold futures fell 0.59%, or $15.56, to $74.47 per troy ounce. It traded for $2,616.34.
EUR/USD was unchanged at 1.04, an increase of 0.37%, and EUR/GBP was unchanged at 0.83, an increase of 0.07%.
Dollar index futures rose 0.23% to 108.04.
