The World Health Organization said on Saturday that Kamal Adwan Hospital was “currently vacant” after Israeli military raids left the last major medical facility in northern Gaza out of commission.
The WHO said it was “appalled” by Friday’s raid, saying “hospitals have once again become battlefields”.
“The systematic dismantling of the health system and more than 80 days of siege in northern Gaza are putting the lives of the 75,000 remaining Palestinians in the area at risk,” the UN health agency said in a statement. Ta.
The Israeli military announced on Saturday that it had ended a raid on a Hamas command center inside the hospital and detained the director, who it said was an agent of the Palestinian resistance organization Hamas.
Israeli forces launched a major offensive in northern Gaza in October.
“Kamal Adwan is currently empty,” the WHO said.
The remaining 15 seriously ill patients, 50 caregivers and 20 medical workers were taken to an Indonesian hospital on Friday, which the hospital said was “destroyed and dysfunctional”.
“Relocating and treating critically ill patients under these conditions poses a significant risk to their survival.
“WHO, like Hospital Director Kamal Adwan, is deeply concerned about their health.”
