What’s the story?
OpenAI has made its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, ChatGPT, more accessible by integrating it with Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp.
To use this feature, simply add 1800-CHATGPT or 1800-242-8478 to your contacts.
The current iteration of ChatGPT on WhatsApp only supports text input and doesn’t have any fancy voice modes or visual input features.
ChatGPT global availability and future plans
ChatGPT is now globally accessible through WhatsApp in all regions where OpenAI offers chatbot services.
This service does not require a separate account.
OpenAI is also working on a way to authenticate existing users on WhatsApp, but a launch schedule for this feature has not yet been disclosed.
OpenAI introduces ChatGPT hotline in the US
In addition to the WhatsApp integration, OpenAI has also launched a ChatGPT hotline (1800-242-8478) in the United States.
Toll-free numbers can be used on any phone, whether it’s a smartphone or an old flip phone.
Users will be given 15 minutes of free use of ChatGPT via this hotline, with the option to log into their account for longer.
OpenAI’s efforts to make ChatGPT more accessible
Kevin Weil, OpenAI’s chief product officer, said during the company’s recent 12 Days of OpenAI Livestream that “we are just beginning the journey to make ChatGPT more accessible to everyone.” Ta.
He pointed out that both the WhatsApp integration and the hotline service were conceived during the company’s recent hack week.
This is part of OpenAI’s broader efforts to improve the accessibility and user experience of AI chatbot services.
