The iPhone 18 Pro is likely to launch in September 2026 and will be the first to incorporate a variable aperture into the main camera, according to a new report from Ming-Chi Kuo, a wealth of supply chain-related information. It is said to be an Apple model. For Apple products.

Kuo previously mentioned that the feature would debut on the iPhone 18 Pro, but that was denied by another report saying it would actually launch next year. Now, Kuo has doubled down on his original prediction, citing information from BE Semiconductor, which supplies Apple with aperture blade assembly equipment.

iPhone 18 Pro, not iPhone 17 Pro, will be the first to feature a variable aperture camera

We’ve seen many Android flagship smartphones come with variable aperture cameras in recent years, and it looks like Apple has taken notice of this development and plans to incorporate it into its Pro smartphones. Although the company can sometimes be a latecomer, there’s no doubt that it brings this technology to market far better than any other Android device maker. How will Apple bring this technology to market despite not being the first to market with past innovations and features? They generally know how to get people excited about all the new features that are (eventually) being added to their devices.
