Apple has started seeding eligible iPhones with the iOS 18.3 update. With this latest software release, the company is enabling Apple Intelligence by default, a major push to expand its availability. Previously, even devices eligible for Apple Intelligence required users to manually enable it from the settings menu, which could be difficult for non-technical users.
This update nearly completes the rollout of the first set of AI features from Apple. These include Notifications Overview (currently paused due to errors in some overviews), Writing Tools, Image Playground, Siri powered by ChatGPT, and Visual Intelligence.
Writing tools: Help users proofread and rewrite text.
Image Playground: Users can generate custom images using simple text prompts.
Siri powered by ChatGPT: Provides advanced search results and helps you understand complex topics.
Visual Intelligence: Acts as an enhanced version of Google Lens, allowing users to point their iPhone’s camera at a subject and ask relevant questions.
In addition to iPhone, Apple Intelligence is enabled by default on eligible iPads and Macs with the iPadOS 18.3 and macOS 15.3 updates, respectively. Notably, Visual Intelligence is exclusive to the iPhone 16 series and features a dedicated camera control button.
However, Apple Intelligence is currently limited to devices configured to support specific languages. Indian English support is not yet available, but is expected to be rolled out by April.
