Intel Foundry appears to be a fierce topic in the industry, and in all of it, the division is said to manage large breakthroughs in the 18A process.
Intel’s Panther Lake Uncore Elements is currently working, but Cougar Cove’s performance is said to be average
IFS didn’t have the best time, especially in the previous quarter. This was one of the main reasons former CEO Pat Gelsinger resigned as the division reported overwhelming performance. Additionally, reports have begun that Intel’s 18A customers are not satisfied with their yield rates at all and are forced to cancel major orders. Currently, according to Weibo’s leak, Intel’s 18A process shows optimistic performance in Panther Lake Socs.

The leaker claims that Intel’s Panther Lake Uncore elements, including memory controllers, I/O interfaces, and onboard interconnects, will ultimately work. The sample tested may be in the A0 step, which is said to be the first test run of the CPU, but as this process is known as one of the key factors behind Intel’s revival, It’s certainly great to see 18A running alive. Returning foundry and semiconductor glory back to the United States.
However, one important thing to talk about here is that the leaker classifies the P-core “Cougar Cove” at Lake Panther as “average.” This is likely to indicate that PTL performance is not as dominant as previously mentioned. However, as it is not official for now, details around the Panther Lake are quite trapped, so it is important to photograph these statements with a grain of salt.

At this point, Intel’s 18A process is represented by Panther Lake SoCS, which is said to be released in the second half of 2025. It is said that Intel’s partners were already testing Panther Lake, and they expressed their excitement about it. I won’t go into detail about Panther Lake, but it is expected that Skus’ first batch will likely be in the mobile segment with the “H” model.
We recently discussed how the Trump administration is leaning towards restoring Intel’s control in the chip market. If 18A meets expectations, it could prove to be a massive breakthrough as the US government promotes Intel’s attitude in the market.
