Indian-American Sriram Krishnan appointed by Donald Trump as White House AI advisor

US President-elect Donald Trump on Sunday appointed Indian-American entrepreneur, venture capitalist and author Sriram Krishnan as White House senior policy advisor on artificial intelligence.

“Sriram Krishnan will become Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy,” President Trump said Sunday, announcing a number of appointments related to artificial intelligence, or AI.

Mr. Krishnan has previously led product teams at Microsoft, Twitter, Yahoo, Facebook and Snap, and will work with David O. Sachs, who will become the White House’s AI and crypto czar.

“Sriram will work closely with David Sachs to focus on ensuring continued U.S. leadership in AI, shaping and coordinating AI policy across the government, including working with the President’s Council of Science and Technology Advisors. “Mr. Sriram began his career at Microsoft as a founding member of Windows Azure,” Trump said.

“I am honored to work closely with David Sachs to serve our country and ensure America’s continued leadership in AI,” said Krishnan.

Mr. Krishnan’s appointment has been welcomed by the Indian American community.

“We extend our warmest congratulations to Sriram Krishnan and are delighted that he has been appointed by President-elect Donald Trump as Senior Policy Advisor in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy,” said Sanjeev Joshipura, Executive Director of Indiaspora. said.

“For several years, Sriram has been an insightful thinker and influential commentator in the field of artificial intelligence. His work to date has blended public policy, international affairs, investments, and technology. will be of benefit to him in serving the nation in this important role,” he added.

“Indiaspora continues its convening and thought leadership efforts on AI in the US and abroad, and we look forward to working closely with Sriram,” said Joshipura.
