Popular Indian actor Allu Arjun, who headlined the recent blockbuster movie Pushpa 2, has been arrested by police and detained for 14 days, according to Indian media reports.

The star was taken into custody after a crowd broke out at the premiere of his film in Hyderabad on Friday, December 13, leaving a 39-year-old woman dead and her son in critical condition.

Because authorities were not informed about the actor and his team’s visit to the premiere, police filed charges against the theater’s management, the actor, and the security team.

Earlier, police announced that three people, including one of the owners of Sandhya Theater, were arrested in connection with the stampede.

The arrested suspects are Sandhya Theatre’s owner M Sandeep (37), senior manager M Nagaraju (51) and lower balcony in-charge Gandakam Vijay Chander (53), police said on Sunday. .

On December 4, a 35-year-old woman, Revati, was killed in the incident. According to a press release issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Central Zone, the woman was pronounced dead after being rushed to Durgabai Deshmukh. While in the hospital, her son Shreete was undergoing treatment.

The crowding occurred after actor Allu Arjun visited the theater accompanied by his personal security, causing people to rush into the theater.

Police have registered a case under sections 105, 118 (1) of Bharatiya Nyay Samhita (BNS) and other relevant sections at Chikadpalli police station. The arrested accused were produced in court and sent to judicial custody.

After a crowd broke out at the Sandhya theater during the screening of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rules’ on the night of December 4, the makers released an official statement expressing their sadness over the tragic incident.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident during last night’s screening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the young child undergoing treatment. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. “We are committed to providing all possible support during this difficult time. It is with deep sadness that we extend our efforts to provide all possible support during this difficult time,” wrote Mythri Movies, which produced the film with X.
