Suzuki Motor Corporation aims to regain 50 per cent market share in India with a diversified strategy focused on electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, SUVs and compact cars. The Japanese automaker unveiled the e-Vitara and e-Access at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. Toshihiro Suzuki, President and Representative Director of Suzuki Motor Corporation, spoke to the assembled media and shared the company’s roadmap and product strategy.

Targeting 50% market share:

Toshihiro Suzuki emphasizes the brand’s goal of regaining market share with a new SUV model. “Our priority is to regain 50 percent market share. We are introducing new products to stimulate the market and are working to aggressively increase our portfolio with a particular focus on SUVs. I’m here.”

Maruti Suzuki’s market share has declined sharply over the past few years. Japanese automakers’ market share in 2024 was 41%, down from 52% in 2024.

The company expects to approach customers with a multi-fuel strategy that includes a significant mix of gasoline, CNG, EV and hybrid by 2030. Suzuki expects demand for small cars to revive, calling it an “essential” segment.

Production and export:

The company aims to produce 4 million units a year, and the plant planned to be built in Halhoda, Haryana is expected to produce 1 million units once it is operational. Suzuki said India’s manufacturing expertise and economies of scale will be crucial in exporting products and making India a “global EV export hub”.

The company exported 3.26 million units in 2024, registering an annual growth of 121%. Suzuki said the company exports “Made in India” Fronx to more than 70 countries. Suzuki added that the e-Vitara will also be exported from India to Japan, Europe and other markets.

Suzuki at Expo 2025:

Maruti Suzuki launched the e Vitara at the Expo. The e-Vitara is available with two battery pack options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The e Vitara is a thoroughly developed electric vehicle that will be exported to several global markets. Launch in India is scheduled for later this year. The company also showcased the Fronx Turbo Concept, Grand Vitara Adventure Concept, Jimny Conqueror Concept, Swift Champion Concept and Brezza Powerplay Concept. At the same time as the e-Access announcement, Suzuki Motorcycles announced the new Access 125 at Expo.
