Returning to the hometown of Richmond, Virginia, Oliver went to a public elementary school, and lunch was quick and unpleasant. The menu was put in a plastic bag with a short choice of “child -friendly” foods such as hamburgers, chicken nuggets, hot dogs, and pizza, such as french potatoes, fruit cups, and baby winging. The meal was offered on a disposable tray with plastic plates and cutlery, all of which were thrown in the trash bin at the end of each meal. Oliver explains that the lunch room scene was mixed with a loud OTIC, and the lunch monitor is struggling to maintain order. He was often frustrated by being hungry and frustrated and complaining that lunch was the most liked on school days.
Then, in late 2023, he moved to France as an adult gap year. We have registered a 7 -year -old Oliver in a small private ecoleline in the center of the city recommended by local friends. He was completely nervous to go to a French school, but he had no class on Wednesday (not unusual in France), but he won the lunch break of an hour and a half. Children can choose to stay at school for Dejeuner (lunch) or go home to eat with their families. Oliver chose to go home for the first few weeks and started staying if he felt more comfortable at school.
School Cantine is a cozy yellow room where students are sitting at the table in the 8th place. Meals are provided on a real plate with a real cutlery that is washed and reused the next day. A water pitcher is sitting on each table. Students pour into their own glasses and replenish themselves when needed.
The meal is prepared on the off -site off site at the main school complex in the morning and is transported to school every day. Local seasonal materials such as sustainable seafood and organic agricultural products are given priority. Meals are provided on the course, there are starters, main courses, dairy courses (yogurt or cheese), and desserts. The recent lunch on Friday was Salade de Lentess (lens bean salad), Aglillet de Sormon Meniere (butterfried salmon), Ratatouille, EMMENTAL, and dessert organic fruit salad. Other days, we picked up Tajne with olive, vegetarian Great East American, homemade peach milk cake.
Students are first asking if they want a full or small amount to taste, but they are encouraged to try all of them. If they want more, they can seek another service. Lunch lasts for about 40 minutes, and then the students clean up the table themselves and rub the food that has not been eaten to be composted in a bowl. They spend the rest of the rest at the playground.
