Trifold appears to be the next big thing in terms of hype. Huawei is about to get ahead of trends by releasing Mate XT Ultimate. Tri-Fold Mate XT Ultimate has a release date.
As Foldables is beginning to become a reliable form factor, OEMs are focusing on steps beyond that: triple. The triple design essentially allows for one special usable phone size and pushes the step beyond simpler foldable folding. It can be opened like this style foldable when closed on a smaller display or for a larger display. Beyond that, it can be deployed further, comparable to the size of a tablet.
Huawei wonders when future customers will become reality, but for a while it has been making global jokes about its fellow XT Ultimate. On Twitter/X, the company has posted a teaser video that sets the Mate XT Ultimate as two phones to be released in 2025.
The event is scheduled to take place in Kuala Lumpur. This is because the devices are already available in China, but more regions are set up to acquire devices. While Europe and other regions are definitely on the list, the US won’t see the launch.
The Mate XT Ultimate is a huge step for a foldable device. Other companies like Samsung are already pushing for their own triple options. This is almost exactly what we saw in the growth of this style of foldable design. A year or two after the published prototype, it could just be another option when users choose the type of mobile phone they are buying.
Huawei didn’t pay attention to the price or exact availability of the teaser video, but we can assume that Mate XT Ultimate will cost around $2,800 on conversion.
