Gemini, Google’s AI assistant, is on TV. On Monday, the company announced it would be introducing Gemini on Google TV, allowing television owners to engage in free and natural conversations with AI.
Once fully deployed, expanding Gemini to a new platform will make Google AI a more than 300 million active Google TV and other Android TV OS-equipped devices.
Regarding TV-related questions, Google suggests that Gemini AI can be used to help people with a variety of interests settle down to see both of their favorites or catch up with what they missed in past seasons of their favorite shows. You can also help Gemini find a movie, help with the show when they don’t remember the title, or ask about a title review to help you decide if it’s worth watching.
However, it’s Gemini, so you can also ask other types of questions whenever you can using your smartphone’s AI chatbot.
For example, children and parents can use AI to get homework help, brainstorm ideas for school projects, Gemini to plan their next vacation, and individual users can leverage AI to teach new skills.
The company stresses that the addition of Gemini doesn’t mean that it can’t do the same thing that it can now do through (non-AI) Google Assistant integration. These commands still work, Google says.
The Gemini Rollout to Google TV starts today with the TCL QM9K series.
Later in the year, Gemini arrives at Google TV Streamer. Walmart Onn 4K Pro; 2025 Hisense U7, U8, and UX models. 2025 TCL QM7K, QM8K, and X11K models. More features will be added over time.
