Google TV now offers more than 170 free channels, giving U.S. viewers even more content to explore. Google TV already has a strong lineup of free channels with plenty of variety for all types of viewers. But knowing you can never have enough content, the platform has added even more content. With this update, U.S. viewers now have access to over 170 free channels.
According to 9to5Google, the update should roll out to anyone with a TV or streaming device running the latest Google TV software. You can find the expanded channel lineup directly in the Google TV Freeplay app.
Freeplay gives you instant access to free, ad-supported live channels as soon as you set up your new Google TV device. However, it is currently only available in the United States.
Google TV’s latest channel drop builds on recent expansions. Just a few months ago, the platform added 14 new channels, bringing the total to 150.
The new channels are:

With the latest update, the number of channels on Google TV Freeplay has increased to 171. However, 9to5Google points out that some channels may only last for the duration of the holiday, judging by the name of the festival.
With this expansion, MotorTrend Fast TV quietly disappeared. This constant shuffling of adding and removing content is expected to continue into 2025, leaving the streaming scene as unpredictable as ever.
Google TV started with 80 free channels when it launched ad-supported TV in early 2023. By the end of the year, that number had increased to 117. Last August, the number reached 136, with 14 more channels joining in September.
Accessing these channels is very easy. Just go to the Live tab and scroll through our recommendations, or use the Google TV channel player to join right away.
