FTSE Mondo Visione Index Reaches Record Levels

January 2025 saw a strong start to the year for global markets, highlighted by robust equity gains, fluctuating currencies, and mixed commodity trends. Despite ongoing challenges such as inflation and geopolitical uncertainties, markets maintained cautious optimism, driving positive momentum.

The FTSE Mondo Visione Index capped off the month with a notable performance, achieving a record closing high of 85,759.06 points on January 30. By month-end, the Index closed at 85,623.44 points, up 4.3% from December’s close of 82,067.67 points.

Herbie Skeete, Managing Director of Mondo Visione and Co-founder of the Index, noted, “January proved to be an impressive month for the Index’s top exchanges. ICE and CME Group saw significant growth, fueled by higher demand for energy and financial products. LSEG also demonstrated its resilience, leveraging its diverse portfolio to deliver consistent value in a challenging environment.”

Global Standouts in January 2025

Croatia’s Zagrebacka Burza emerged as the top performer in capital returns, with a 16.5% increase in share price. Brazil’s B3 followed closely with a 14.7% rise, while the Philippine Stock Exchange posted a solid 10.8% gain.

On the other hand, the Multi Commodity Exchange of India faced the steepest decline, with a 9.1% drop in share price. Bursa Malaysia and the Bulgarian Stock Exchange recorded decreases of 6.5% and 5.6%, respectively.
