Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman chaired the 8th pre-budget consultation meeting with stakeholders and trade union representatives on Monday, January 6, in New Delhi.
The meeting was held as part of the preparation of the Federal Budget for 2025-26, which is scheduled to be submitted on February 1, 2025.
The purpose of the discussion was to gather insight from trade unions about their expectations and concerns for the upcoming budget. The consultation is part of the Government’s annual tradition of working with diverse sectors to ensure inclusive and effective policy-making.
The Ministry of Finance shared details of the meeting on social media and wrote, “Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister @nsitharaman will chair the 8th pre-budget consultations with stakeholders and trade union representatives in relation to the upcoming union budget. “I will serve as the director.” 2025-2026 in New Delhi. ”

This is Finance Minister Sitharaman’s eighth budget presentation and another milestone in her tenure.
Earlier, Sitharaman held consultations with financial sector and capital market stakeholders as part of a series of pre-budget discussions.
The Treasury Department regularly holds such meetings with experts, economists, industry leaders, and state officials to gather diverse perspectives on the budget.
Last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also interacted with eminent economists and thought leaders at the NITI Aayog premises and deliberated on the upcoming budget.
