The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is reportedly gearing up for its biggest fight in history in 2025. UFC CEO Dana White outlined the promotion’s plans for next year, while also saying there are plans to hold fights in new locations and countries in 2025.
MMA becomes more popular
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is currently one of the fastest growing sports in the world, and cage combat has seen tremendous growth in recent years. This is in contrast to a little more than a decade ago when MMA was banned in many US states, with New York becoming the last state to lift the ban in 2016.
2024 will be a record year for the UFC
The UFC, founded in 1993 and acquired by White in 2001, has been the biggest beneficiary of MMA’s newfound popularity.
“2024 was another record year for our company. Not only financially, but we broke arena records,” White said on ESPN’s First Take.
Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall
White said he expects to see a Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall fight sometime next year, looking ahead to 2025.
“Jon Jones has never said behind the scenes, ‘I’m not going to fight Tom Aspinall.’ There’s a big gap, but he’s not afraid to fight Tom Aspinall,” White said.
Biggest fight in UFC history
According to White, Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall will be the biggest fight of 2025, as well as the biggest fight in the 23-year history of the UFC.
“He’s going to fight Tom Aspinall and it’s going to be the biggest fight in UFC history,” White said.
