Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming our society. AI will be able to perform many tasks that previously relied on human input. This has led to concerns that AI will soon replace humans in the workplace. This fear is unwarranted as major companies like TCS and Accenture have already laid off thousands of employees. Now, tech billionaire Elon Musk says that all jobs will be replaced, which will actually give humans more freedom.
Musk responded to a post by X that mentioned recent reports about Amazon’s plans to replace workers with AI and robots. The American giant plans to eliminate more than 160,000 jobs by 2027 through robots. Elon Musk answered very frankly. He wrote that “AI and robots will replace all jobs.”
Considering his vast knowledge about the future of the technology industry, the Tesla CEO’s comments may seem like enough to cause panic. But Musk had more to say. He saw this not as a bleak future, but as an opportunity for humanity to be freed from forced labor every day. Instead, according to Elon Musk, “working becomes optional, just like growing your own vegetables instead of buying them from the store.”
Musk himself is leading xAI and has founded an AI-specific software company called Macrohard. Meanwhile, Tesla is also working on improving its Optimus robot.
Elon Musk predicts universal high incomes after AI takes over all jobs
We all work to earn money to sustain our lives. This is the main reason behind the concern about job loss due to AI. But Elon Musk feels otherwise. In another comment, Musk said AI would make working “optional” for humans.
Additionally, the tech billionaire claimed the world would have “universal high incomes.” Essentially, Elon Musk suggested that in the future, when AI takes over jobs, humans will earn income levels high enough to maintain their lifestyles without having to work.
This sounds very good in theory. A world where AI does all the work and humans can just enjoy life. Musk has mentioned such a possibility in the past. Speaking at the VivaTech 2024 conference in Paris, he said there would be no shortage of goods or services and that such a future was “80 percent likely”.
A way to achieve this might be to use personal robots. Elon Musk said in an August 2024 post that every human being could have “their own R2-D2 and C-3PO.” R2-D2 and C-3PO are two robots from the Star Wars movie series.
