Elon Musk Already Lost His Grip with Republican Support – FirstPost

Elon Musk, once a favorite among many conservatives, has witnessed a sharp decline in support from Republican voters.

When US President Donald Trump initially appointed Musk to lead the Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE), many of the parties supported his aggressive approach to streamlining government agencies. However, recent polls have shown a significant decline in enthusiasm.

According to an Economist/YouGov survey conducted shortly after Trump’s 2024 election victory, 47% of Republicans hoped that masks would have a major impact on the administration.

Just a few months later, that figure plunged to 26%, with 43% hoping that he will have a limited role and 17% will remove him from the government completely.

Only 6% of independents want masks to have a strong influence, flaunting a dramatic decline from 26% in November 2024. Democrats are also increasingly resistant, with only 6% supporting Musk’s involvement in the government.

While Trump’s base remains largely supportive, non-Maga Republicans are increasing skepticism about Musk’s unidentified authority. Latest data from the HART survey survey found that 63% of voters are currently viewing masks at a disadvantage, a nine-point jump since the previous survey.

The number of Americans Musk wants “many influences” in the government has fallen from 34% in November to 13% today.

Maybe behind the decline in popularity of masks?

Musk’s role as head of Doge gave him drastic access to a critical government system, leading to growing concerns about his influence. Taking over the elimination of federal agencies’ inefficiencies, Doge is under scrutiny for its aggressive actions.

Recent reports suggest that DOGE employees are allowed to enter sensitive financial and human resource data, including files from the US Organization for International Development (USAID) and the Treasury Federal Payment System.

Over the weekend, Doge officials reportedly stormed the USAID office and accessed personnel files and payment information before placing all employees on administrative leave. Doge also entered the US Treasury records for a “operational efficiency assessment.”

The Treasury claims that mask access is “read-only”, but sources say mask engineers change codes with the Department of Treasury’s highly sensitive payment automation manager and secure payment system He told Wired that he had the ability.

The polling data reflects an increasing discomfort over the unidentified power of masks. 57% of Americans say Musk has too much influence on the government. Among those familiar with Doge’s operations, this figure has risen to 60%.

Additionally, 61% of respondents expressed concern that Musk will not be bound by conflict of interest rules, particularly after confirming that the White House will self-determination of potential conflicts.

How did the Democrats react to Musk?

The backlash against Musk’s government involvement has created an opportunity for Democrats to unite their opposition. According to an internal vote from Democrats, 70% of voters have disapproved what they call “rich rich government,” and the appointment of masks is an important example.

Some lawmakers are now pushing to limit their ability to receive mask federal contracts while still playing a leadership role in the Trump administration.

Additionally, a “deferred resignation” proposal for mask controversy, which would have provided retirement agreements to numerous federal employees, was recently blocked by a federal judge hours before the deadline.

Democrats are taking advantage of these controversies, with some trying to summon his involvement in dismantling government activities.

Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski revealed that the Senate’s phone system is overwhelmed by the components’ calls, reporting an influx of around 1,600 phone calls per minute.

How is Trump perceived?

Trump’s economic policies remain complex, but masks’ status with the public continues to be eroded.

A recent morning consultation found that 46% of Americans disapproved of the government’s involvement in masks, but only 41% support it. Among independent voters, 53% are against his role, with only 28% in favor of him.

Voting from data for progress further suggests that 51% of voters use DOGE to benefit their businesses rather than focusing on government efficiency. It suggests that.

Concerns about Musk’s motivations are exacerbated by reports that his team has been accessed to all uncategorized government records, software systems and IT networks.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll found 49% support the policy and massive support for Trump’s freeze on federal employment. However, other Trump initiatives, such as a 25% tariff proposal on goods from Canada and Mexico, have proven to be less popular.

A YouGov poll found that only 33% of Americans support tariffs, while 49% are opposed to them.

While Trump has largely defended Musk’s Doge’s leadership, bipartisan scrutiny and declining public recognition could force the administration to rethink the extent of his influence.
