Ontario’s Prime Minister Doug Ford has announced on Monday (February 3) that it has canceled the $ 100 million contract of the satellite Internet service with Starlink, a satellite telecommunications company owned by the billionaire Elon Musk. I did. This decision has caused the tensions between two neighboring countries in accordance with the recent 25 % tariffs on Most Canadian products by President Donald Trump.

“We will tear a contract with Starlink in the state. Ontario does not do business with hell -like people to destroy our economy,” Ford stated in a statement.

Ontario prohibits American companies from state contracts

“From today, Untario has banned American companies from state contracts until US tariffs are deleted,” Ford wrote. He emphasized that the Ontario government spent $ 30 billion per year with a $ 200 billion infrastructure plan.

“The United States -based companies will lose hundreds of billions of dollars with new revenue. They are the only President Trump to take responsibility,” he added.

Ontario’s strong retaliation attitude

Ford said that Canada did not launch a trade dispute with the United States, but the state government was ready to fight back. “Canada did not start this battle with the United States, but we believe we are ready to win,” he concluded.

Retaliation of Tordeau for US tariffs

Canada’s Prime Minister Canada has already confirmed retaliation tariffs on US products worth $ 100 billion, including the first round duties this week. Canada is also asking citizens to support local industries in light of the escalating of trade disputes. The dispute has caused a series of economic measures to escalate between the two countries.

American liquor removed from Ontario shelves

Earlier, Ford issued an order to remove American liquor from the shelf of the Ontario State Sake Committee (LCBO). “Every year, LCBO sells about 1 billion dollars -worth of American wines, beer, spirits, and Celzer. There is no longer,” Ford wrote, and for US alcohol exports in Canada’s most popular state. It gives a big blow.
