President-elect Donald Trump said at a Sunday rally in Washington ahead of his scheduled inauguration on Monday that the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hamas was a victory for the Republican Party in the US elections in November. He said that this was a direct result of.

He hailed the ceasefire agreement as “magnificent” and characterized it as “a first step towards lasting peace in the Middle East.”

He repeated his earlier claim that the war would not have happened if he had been president. “First of all, that would never have happened if I had been president,” he said, adding, “Iran would have been bankrupt.”

At the rally, Witkoff held his cell phone and showed photos of the three freed hostages. “I received photos on my cell phone of the first three hostages released.”
He asserted that Trump was “responsible for this release.”
