During an interaction at an event organized by Malayala Manorama, director Salim Kumar said that he is a new age director who is unable to deliver good comedy films and relies on making over-the-top violent films in the name of entertainment. expressed criticism against them.
“Name one good comedy movie that happened recently and I’d say the answer is no. There used to be a lot of good comedy movies, but now the industry doesn’t have good comedy movies that really make you laugh,” says Salim. Kumar said during the interaction.
Commenting on recent comedy films like Premal and Guruvayoor Ambalanadair, director Salim Kumar said these films lacked the true humor that was present in early Mollywood films. “It’s been a long time since I laughed at a good comedy movie. Some may argue against this, but in my opinion these new movies are just rehashing of old comedies,” Salim said. Kumar said.
Salim Kumar further criticized the inability of the new generation of filmmakers to create a new wave in comedy. He further shared his views on the recently released violent movies and said that these movies show violence to the maximum and call it butcher shop.
