Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a two-day visit to France, where he will be engaged in a series of high-level meetings and events. On Wednesday he arrived in Marseille and, together with French President Emmanuel Macron, took the position of the new Indian consulate general. Leaders have planned several important engagements, including visiting the Mazarg War Cemetery to pay tribute to Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the World War. It will also tour the International Thermonuclear Test Reactor (ITER) project, a major global fusion collaboration.
On Tuesday, Modi and Macron addressed the AI Action Summit, taking part in the 14th India-France CEO Forum, highlighting economic and technological cooperation. This marks Modi’s sixth visit to France, further strengthening bilateral relations.
Some social media users have been shaking hands with French President Macron at the AI Summit while the two leaders successfully held a bilateral meeting where India’s fusion was stolen with new highs. He claimed that he ignored or humiliated Modi when he went to shake hands with other world leaders. Since then, the video has gone viral on social media and has been shared by many Congressional leaders.
Sorry, French President Emmanuel Macron greeted world leaders, but despite Modi’s attempts at the Paris AI Summit, he did not shake hands with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. pic.twitter.com/a5s2pmouto – clash Report (@clashreport) February 11, 2025
However, this video is a short part of a long video where you can watch him enroll in the venue along with PM Modi. Macron and Modi met outside the venue, and the French president welcomed his Indian counterpart. The two leaders waved and shared greetings, entering the venue where other world leaders sat.
The Kremlin spreads another fake “scandal”
Russian propaganda has distributed misleading, out-of-context videos, allegedly French President Emmanuel Macron refused to shake hands with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In reality, they were already waving…pic.twitter.com/ugvi3fcyz2 – nextta (@nexta_tv) February 11, 2025
Therefore, the claims made in the viral video are not true. After his engagement in France, the Prime Minister will travel to the United States tonight as part of a tour of the two countries.
