Michael Ryder, who started out as Celine’s new artistic director earlier this year, will make his debut at a fashion show in Paris on July 6th at 2:30pm. WWD learned.
The date will be between the Paris Men’s Fashion Week, scheduled for June 24th to June 29th, and the Paris Couture Week, which will take place from July 7th to 11th.
It is not yet clear whether the display will come with women’s clothing, men’s clothing, or both.
Still, it marks the fashion house’s return to IRL runway format. Fashion House has recently released its films in a pure white film by former artistic, creative and image director Hedy Sriman. These were usually released outside of the official Fashion Week.
Celine is one of the hosts of the marquee brand, which will be unveiling a collection by new creative leaders in 2025. Others include Chanel, Givenchy, Tom Ford, Doris Van Nouten, Bloomerin, Alberta Ferretti and Bottega Veneta.
Celine’s parent LVMH Moet Henneseilis Vuitton confirmed the arrival of the riders last October after announcing that Celine and Slimanet had parted ways after a fruitful seven-year collaboration.
Rider was previously creative director at Polo Ralph Lauren, but is familiar with Celine. He recorded a decade as Celine’s ready-to-wear design director from 2008 to 2018, working for the then creative director, Phoebe Phillo.
A graduate of Brown University in Rhode Island, Ryder worked as a senior designer at Balenciaga from 2004 to 2008.
He currently handles all Celine collections, from women’s clothing, men’s clothing, leather goods, accessories to couture.
His employment thrusts the talent of another prominent studio into Ume’s famous role. In the past, LVMH has tended to support Markey’s talent.
