New Delhi: The Congress party on Friday announced Alka Lamba as its candidate from Kalkaji constituency in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Lamba, a former AAP member, will face incumbent Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi in what is expected to be a high-stakes battle.
In a press release, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) said, “The Central Election Commission has approved the candidature of Alka Lamba as a parliamentary candidate contesting the upcoming Delhi Legislative Assembly elections (Kalkaji constituency 51). ” he said. ”
“I don’t think I have any objections to the CM. Arvind Kejriwal himself called Atishi a ‘temporary CM’ and she has only one month left to live. In any case, Kejriwal should come back. He has a constitutional post. As a woman, she is disrespectful.” Atishi needs to clarify her stand on being called a ‘temporary CM’ by Kejriwal.” After being declared Kalkaji candidate, Congress leadership said Alka Lamba.
In the 2020 Delhi elections, Mr. Atishi defeated the BJP’s Mr. Dharambir and won the Kalkaji seat with over 55,000 votes. Congress’ Shivani Chopra, on the other hand, secured less than 5,000 votes and finished third in the contest.
