A seagull was hit by a cricket ball during a Big Bash League match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Thursday night. The incident occurred during the Sydney Sixers’ innings.
A flock of seagulls landed on the field during the Sixers’ run chase. James Vince hit a powerful shot straight into the ground off the bowling of Melbourne Stars’ Joel Paris.
The ball went towards the boundary and unfortunately hit a seagull. The impact sent the ball over the boundary line, resulting in 6 points conceded. A security guard removed the seagull from the field.

Vince’s England teammate Ben Duckett was asked about the incident. “It didn’t look very good. It actually hit him really hard,” Duckett said.
“I’m totally swarmed by them right now. I’ve never defended like this when this much is happening in front of me,” he added.
Immediately after the incident, more seagulls flew into the stadium. Vince hit a high shot towards the boundary off the bowling of Usama Mir.
Duckett, who was defending for the Melbourne Stars, tried to catch the ball but missed his chance, probably due to the presence of the seagulls.
Vince ended up leaving after giving up 53 points. Melbourne Stars won the match by 16 points, keeping their hopes of advancing to the finals alive.
