A few days after the Assembly experienced three consecutive parliamentary election defeats since the 2024 Lok Saba poll, the party on Friday made a major organized shakeup that took the traces of senior leader Rahul Gandhi. carried out.

It appointed two states and nine general secretaries, and eliminated six leaders who held these positions.

The Congress brought former Chhattisgarh Prime Minister Bhupesh Baghel to the AICC Secretariat and appointed him as General Secretary of Punjab. Rajya Sabha MP Syed Naseer Hussain has become General Secretary in charge of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

Baghel replaced Devender Yadav, who was in charge of Punjab after being appointed chief of Delhi Congress last year, but Hussain replaced Gujarat leader Bharatsinh Solanki as general secretary in charge of J&K .
Most of the new appointees are either leaders of opposition Rahul Gandhi or AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Baghel, for example, enjoys Priyanka’s good equations.

The exception appears to be Hussein. Hussein is considered to be close to the chief of Parliament Marikaljun Karju. Raja Sabah, a member of Karnataka, was in charge of Karj’s office.

The new charges for the state include Raja Sabha MP Rajani Patil (Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh), BK Hariprashad (Haryana), Harish Chaudhary (Madhya Pradesh), Girish Chodankar (Tamil Nadu and Padusherry), Ajay Kumar Lal (Odisha), K Raju (Jharkhand), Meenakshi Natarajan (Telangana), Lok Sabha MP Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka (Manipur, Tripura, Sikkim, Nagaland), Krishna allavaru (Bihar).

Most of these leaders have been organised in the past. For example, Hariprasad is the general secretary in charge of several states. He’s now in charge – some sort of demobilization. Patil and Chaudhary are also charging. Before the re-shuffle, Chodankar was in charge of Manipur, Tripura, Sikkim and Nagaland.

Lallu, Raju and Ulaka are new entrants as payers. All of them are considered near Rahul.

Raju, a former bureaucrat who previously was the head of the Uttar Pradesh Conference, but worked closely with Rahul, is the national coordinator of the SC, ST, OBC and the minority sections of the Congress. Arabal is currently in charge of the Youth Conference. He was given Bihar charges in the year the state headed for the polls. Natarajan previously led the Congress Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sanghasan.

Among the six leaving leaders is Dipak Bavaria, who served as Haryana’s top post when the party lost in the state’s parliamentary vote last year.

In addition to Solanki (Jammu & Kashmir) and Yadav (Punjab), other retired general secretaries and total charges are Mohan Prakash (Bihar), Rajeev Shukla (Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh), Ajoy Kumar (Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry). .

Friday’s reshuffle is part of a larger restructuring, announced after a meeting of the Congressional Labor Committee held in Belagabi, Karnataka on December 26th. The party announced that it would reshuffle the organization from top to bottom. “2025 will be the year of party organizational strengthening at all levels.”

Since the election of Lok Saba in 2024, Congress has lost elections in Maharashtra, Haryana and Delhi.
