The Congress on Friday (December 20, 2024) dared the Bharatiya Janata Party to release the CCTV footage of the events that unfolded during the protests on both sides over the alleged insult to BR Ambedkar the previous day.
At a press conference at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters, Gaurav Gogoi, Congress vice president in Lok Sabha, and his party’s colleague in Rajya Sabha, Pramod Tiwari, asked why the Delhi Police had filed an FIR on the complaint. I questioned why they would not register. A Bharatiya Janata Party member manhandles his colleagues, including party leader Mallikarjun Kharge.

On Thursday (December 19, 2024), the ruling NDA bloc and the opposition India bloc accused each other of resorting to physical assault during protests outside Parliament House.
Three Bharatiya Janata Party MPs have filed a police complaint against Rahul Gandhi, the opposition leader in Lok Sabha, accusing him of shoving two of their colleagues. Based on the complaint, Delhi Police filed an FIR against the Congress leaders.
“We are asking the government to seal and release the CCTV footage. Everything will be revealed about who was blocking whom,” Tiwari said.
Congress leaders also reiterated their demand that Home Minister Amit Shah apologize for insulting Mr. Ambedkar and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi apologize for supporting and defending Mr. Shah’s remarks.
“No matter what Amit Shah does, his 12 seconds of remarks about Dr. Ambedkar will haunt him for a long time to come. Those 12 seconds will be too costly for him. ” said Gogoi.
Congress leaders asserted that the registration of an FIR against Mr. Gandhi will not deter the party leaders and the Congress party and they will continue to demand Mr. Shah’s apology and resignation.
