China unveils a scale model of the two-seat variant of the J-20 stealth fighter jet J-20 at the China Air Show China exhibition hall to be held in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, South China from November 12th to 17th I did.

Military expert Zhang Xuefeng told the Global Times on Sunday that the J-20s could be a command aircraft to coordinate loyal Wingman drones.

A scale model of the J-20S is on display in the exhibition hall of the China-owned Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC). The J-20s is the first two-seater, fifth-generation fighter jet known in the world.

The J-20S is a new generation of two-seat heavy iron stealth fighter with a medium to long range, developed independently by China. Learned from Avicch at the airshow, the Global Times is equipped with medium to long range air dominance missions and precision strikes on land and maritime targets.

Developed from the J-20, the J-20S has enhanced functionality in terms of situational awareness, electronic destruction, and tactical command and control. The Global Times learnt, allowing you to carry out manned, unmanned, cooperative battles.

Previous generation fighter jets show a priority for single-seat versions to evolve into two-seat variants. This is because a two-seat war plane allows senior pilots to train new pilots on the same aircraft, and a second pilot can manage complex operations. As radar detection and missile attacks, Zhang said.

Regarding the fifth generation fighter jet with rich information and network systems, automated data processing systems and AI technology, adding a second pilot to command other aircraft will help the additional pilots to contribute to I said. A collaboration between manned fighter planes and loyal wingman drones.

For example, some loyal wingman drones could function as external sensors for fighter jets, while others could function as weapon launch platforms, Zhang said.

China is exhibiting loyal wingman drones such as the FH-97A at Air Show China 2022.

The loyal Wingman Drone is not only a sensor, but an ammunition depot and an intelligent assistant to the pilot. It can expand the pilot’s situational awareness and attack range, and by using a large number of drones, each drone acts as an intelligent node in the air combat network, obtaining local combat info, filtering and integration, It forms a wider battlefield situation. It helps pilots make decisions and free people from dangerous and extremely tense combat environments. In that case, in addition to being a traditional pilot, pilots can become commanders of flight formation, the drone developer told the Global Times at the time.
