According to China’s Foreign Ministry, Brown will attend the closing ceremony of the Asian Winter Conference in the northeastern city of Harbin on Friday, where he will also meet Li.
“China is pleased with Prime Minister Brown’s visit as an opportunity to carry out a detailed exchange of sight with the Cook Islands and promote continued progress in bilateral relations,” said province spokesman Guo Zi-Kung said.
Brown and his delegation had previously visited Shanghai and the eastern eastern province, Guo said.

In a social media post Thursday, Brown spoke about “critical debates” with Chinese institutions on the environment, deep sea exploration and economic cooperation.
The conversation “opened the door to a new field of collaboration,” he wrote.
