ChatGPT is now available on WhatsApp: here’s how to get started

OpenAI revealed last week that ChatGPT will finally be accessible on WhatsApp as a dedicated bot as part of its “12 Days of OpenAI” stream. This feature launched with the ability to actually call ChatGPT. However, the calling feature is reserved only within the United States. However, if you’re a WhatsApp user and ChatGPT is available in your region, you can text chat with ChatGPT, get your questions answered, do grammar correction, research, and many other tasks. Let’s explain exactly how ChatGPT works on WhatsApp.

To use ChatGPT with WhatsApp, follow these steps:

Step 1: Save your ChatGPT number as a contact

Before you start sending messages to ChatGPT on WhatsApp, you need to save ChatGPT’s number as a contact on your phone. Please save the number +18002428478. Save as a new contact on your device.

Step 2: Find ChatGPT on WhatsApp

Open WhatsApp, go to Contacts, and search for ChatGPT. The ChatGPT chatbot will appear. A check mark will appear next to the name to confirm it is who you are. Tapping on it will open a chat with the ChatGPT chatbot.

Step 3: Ask ChatGPT a question

Once the chat is open, you are free to send text messages to ChatGPT. You can actually ask questions and technically do everything you can do on the main ChatGPT website, but you can’t share images or ask for feedback on it. Other attachments cannot be uploaded either. Therefore, its functionality is limited compared to websites and apps.

That said, it’s still a functional experience that saves you time if you don’t want to actually exit WhatsApp or want to use ChatGPT right away when you’re talking to someone. . This saves multiple steps and is convenient for many people.

US-based users can call ChatGPT

In the US, OpenAI introduced the ability to call ChatGPT chatbots. This is especially useful in situations where you don’t have an internet connection but have access to calling services. This feature is ideal for areas where you can make calls but don’t have Internet access.

If you need quick information or want a task completed quickly, simply call ChatGPT at 1-800-CHATGPT (toll-free). However, call time is limited to 15 minutes per session. Although usage is limited, the service is completely free, making it a convenient option for on-the-go support.
