We support local jobs, a local tax base, and a vibrant community culture.
According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, more than half of Americans own or work for a small business. It also claims that small businesses create about two-thirds of new jobs in the United States each year.
“As such, Hernando County’s small businesses deserve to be recognized for their outstanding contributions to our county’s innovation, growth and ingenuity,” said Dawn Triconi, executive director of Brooksville Main Street. Ta.
Brooksville Main Street, a local 501(c3) non-profit agency tasked with revitalizing the economy of historic downtown Brooksville, will celebrate Small Business Saturday this year on November 30, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. We are proud to announce that the event will be held until now.
“It promises to be a fun and engaging way to support local businesses,” Triconi said. “We want small businesses of all kinds to join us, so whether you’re a mom-and-pop business, a local shop, an online business, a wholesaler, a business service, or a small manufacturer, Small Know that Business Saturday has your back.”
Small Business Saturday, celebrated on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, was founded by American Express in 2010 as a national movement to encourage communities to shop small and support the unique businesses that make our communities special. It was done. This is a way to promote the importance of supporting the local economy and community. By making a small purchase, you support local jobs, a local tax base and a vibrant community culture.

This year, Brooksville Main Street is making the day even more exciting by introducing the first-ever “WeLoveBVL Small Business Digital Scavenger Hunt.” Specially designed to showcase all of the great local shops, restaurants and services in the BVL community. The contest begins on November 25th and you have until December 7th to fill out your bingo card to win the big prize.
“We’re excited to bring the community together in a fun and interactive way that supports local entrepreneurs,” said Triconi. “This scavenger hunt is a unique twist on Small Business Saturday and a great way to highlight the great businesses that make our community thrive.”
When you shop small on Saturday, November 30th, you’ll not only find a unique and personalized gift, but you’ll also be supporting the local economy. For every dollar spent at small businesses, approximately 67 cents stays in the community, creating jobs and strengthening the local economy. No matter where you live in this county, our community benefits greatly from the restaurants, retailers, manufacturers, and service providers that create jobs and drive economic growth throughout Brooksville and Hernando County. There is no doubt about that.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our county’s economy, so shop local this holiday season and support local job creators,” Triconi said.
