Casting Director Releases Hindi Cinemas from Stock Characters: Shabana Azmi

Veteran actor Shabana Azmi on Tuesday said the prominence of the Hindi film industry casting director has led to a sea of change, allowing more “attractive faces” to cast in real roles . The actor, who celebrated his 50th anniversary last year at the cinema, spoke at the launch event for the trailer for the Netflix thriller drama series “Dabba Cartel.”
Directed by Hitesh Bhatia, the show follows the high stakes drug delivery operations, the way their modest Dabba services spied on unexpected ventures.
Asked how she saw changes in her 50-year career in film, Azumi said, “For me, the emergence of a casting director has brought about a huge change… looking at what the casting director did. Please. They have freed the Hindi movies. Stock characters.
“So we have the most charming faces of the real thing. And what it does for mainstream actors is that when you are surrounded by real characters, you start to pull up your socks. .”
More realistic portrayals of today’s characters are also a welcome change, according to multiple national award winners.
“One of my favorite examples is Rishi Kapoor from ‘Karz’. It was a huge hit. But we can see that he is not playing the guitar. .
“Actors will take on the challenge and learn. This is itself the growth of the actor and the fact that we have more interesting faces than we have now, and that the story doesn’t have to be just with a cute boy. That’s a cute girl. It has made a huge difference for both men and women,” she added.
Azmi, the star of films such as “Uncool”, “Nishant”, “Godmother”, and “Rocky Auul Rani Ky Prem Kahaani”, can do the kind of work she enjoys. He said he was grateful.
“I happened to be in the right place at the right time. The fact that I work with young actors who bring about a completely different sensibilities from me is always exciting. Most young actors are terrified. Is it happening next? “They quickly realised there was nothing like that, they became so comfortable and I had to remember them, “I’ll act your senior, myself.” It must,” she said.
Set in the outskirts of Mumbai in Thane, Dabba Cartel marks the first series collaboration between Netflix and Excel Entertainment.
Working on “Dabba Cartel” was Azmi’s “Ghar Ka Maamla” (Home Affairs) as the show was produced by her stepchild, Farhan Akhtar and created by step-in-law Shibani Akhtar. .
“Dekhiye, Ghar Ka MaamlaHai. BahuNe Hukm Diya, Beta Produce KarrahaTha. MeriAukaat Main Naa Bolun?” she said.

Shabana Azmi is spreading the Indian flag in Melbourne, Australia before Independence Day: “… an honor I didn’t believe I had.”

At the event, the veteran actor also appeared in the series “Dabba Cartel,” but the producer said he tried to remove gun-focused South Star Jyotica.
“I have to confess. I tried to take two girls out of this (show). One is Jyotika. She doesn’t know this, but I say this I did.

“It’s really credible for these people who said, ‘You can do what you want to do. We’re not going to replace her.’ And I’m playing you (pointing to Jyotika).
Written by Vishnu Menon and Bhavna Kher, “Dabba Cartel” also features Nimisha Sajayan, Shalini Pandey, Anjali Anand, Gajraj Rao, Sai Tamhankar, Jisshu Senguta, Lillete Dubey and Bhupendra Singh Jadawat.
Menon, Gaurav Kapoor and Akanksha Seda will also serve as creators of the show, which will premiere on Netflix on February 28th.
