Major automakers delivered sales performance of their Mixed New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in January, bringing a major change in market share.
BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) won retail sales of 200,242 NEVs in China in January, and according to data released today by the China Passenger Automobile Association (CPCA), 3.2 from 206,904 in the same month last year. It has decreased by %.

According to data compiled by CnevPost, BYD has created BEVs and PHEVs, contributing about 60% of its wholesale sales in 2024. Tesla only makes BEVs.
Geely increased 82.9% from 64,286 in the same month last year with retail sales of 117,576 NEVs in January.
The company was second in the Chinese NEV market in January, with a 15.8% share, up from 8.4% in December to 9.6% in the previous year.
Retail sales of Changan Automobile’s NEV in January were 51,075 units, down 8.8% from 55,998 the previous year.
Changan ranked third in January with a 6.9% NEV share, down from 5.5% in December to 7.7% a year ago.
Li Auto (NASDAQ:LI) was ranked seventh in China’s NEV market in January, with a share of 4.0% behind Tesla, with a 4.0% share.
XPENG (NYSE:XPEV) was ranked 8th, with 28,340 units sold at retail stores, with a 3.8% share, and Leapmotor (HKG:9863) ranked 10th with 23,004 units and a 3.1% share.
In the overall passenger car market, including traditional internal combustion engines, Geely ranked number one in January, selling in retail stores and selling with a 13.4% share, rarely surpassing BYD.
BYD was second in the market overall, with a share of 11.2%, and FAW-Volkswagen was third with a share of 7.6%.
