British voters have delivered a harsh verdict on Donald Trump, who will return to the White House as US president.

When think tank More in Common asked people to describe the maverick republican in one word, the most common answer was “stupid,” followed by “dangerous.”

Other adjectives used included “narcissist,” “arrogant,” and “criminal.”

However, the British also described him as “funny,” “good,” “strong,” and a “leader.”

Overall, three in five Brits have a negative view of the new president, compared to 50% who said they would have voted for Democratic rival Kamala Harris. was only 28%.

However, a poll of more than 2,000 British adults found that Mr Trump was popular among men under 35, with 53% of them saying they would have voted for him if they could. did.

Meanwhile, 44% of Brits think Prime Minister Keir Starmer should prioritize building a good working relationship with President Trump, while 37% think he should stand up to Trump.

Luke Trill, director of More in Common UK, said Britons had a “give up on realism” regarding Trump.

He said: “British voters like President Trump less than they did in November, and given that the top word British people used to describe him was ‘stupid’. “That’s not likely to change anytime soon.”

“Nevertheless, they recognize the importance of working with Trump and are likely to say that Starmer’s priority is to work with Trump rather than stand up to him.

“The exception to the resignations is young men, with a majority of those under 35 saying they would have voted for Trump over Harris, but only 28% of the population.

“As in many other Western countries, President Trump’s brand of populism appears to particularly resonate with young men.”
