British Flag carrier British Airways (BA), will begin a strategic expansion of its maintenance capabilities by acquiring Boeing’s hangar facilities and MRO operations at London Gatwick Airport (LGW).
The purchase will establish British Airways Engineering Gatwick (BAEG) and will join existing engineering subsidiaries of South Wales (BAEW) and Glasgow (BAMG) airlines.

The transaction incorporates Boeing’s current workforce into BA’s operations, with employee transfers scheduled for the second quarter of 2024, following a mandatory consultation process.
This integration brings specialized aviation maintenance expertise and advanced facilities under the direct control of BAs, increasing the technical service capabilities of the airline.
