bne IntelliNews – Serbian President Vucic wants to have flying cars by 2027

President Aleksandar Vucic said on January 21 at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, that Serbia plans to start operating flying cars by 2027.

The announcement was met with derision domestically, with some media outlets dismissing the plan as “science fiction.” Indeed, for a country that has waited a century for a subway in its capital, flying cars seem light years away.

Nevertheless, Vucic said talks are already underway with Archer Aviation, an American company known for its innovations in flying car and drone technology.

“We have started negotiations for the purchase of at least three aircraft,” Vučić told Serbian media, calling Archer “one of the most famous companies in the field of flying cars, unmanned aerial vehicles and flying trains.” ”

Serbia is also exploring partnerships with Chinese companies that already have flying cars in several cities.

The president said that Serbia aims to complete the regulatory framework and technical preparations by mid-2026, paving the way for the introduction of flying cars next year.

This ambitious schedule coincides with Expo 2027, an international exhibition scheduled to be held in Belgrade, where Serbia plans to show off its infrastructure development and technological advances.
